Jizai Kagi are hooks suspended from the rafters above a hearth in a traditional Japanese home, especially noted in the mountains. From them would hang an iron boiling pot, offering a warm, welcoming place in the center of the home. Jizai are appreciated as classical Mingei folk art sculptures made of beautiful wood that becomes highly patinated.
